Helen Slater | 58

While her mother worked as a lawyer and her father a TV executive, it sure looks like Helen Slater chose a career that leaned closer to her dad’s line of work. With her love for acting already pretty apparent at a young age, she finished her high school studies at the High School of Performing Arts in 1982.

Through the years, she has had the chance in numerous films, including City Slickers, Ruthless People, The Secret of My Success, and The Legend of Billie Jean. Still, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see that many of her fans know her best for her work in the comic book genre, having guest-starred in the series Smallville. Slater had her big break in the industry, starring as Superman’s cousin, the titular lead in the 1984 film, Supergirl. She also returned for the more recent Supergirl TV series, playing the heroine’s adoptive mother, Eliza Danvers.
